Devotion to ‘God’

For thousands of years a great many humans have believed in some form of deity/deities. The ‘Gods’ of the ancient world were in general, more numerous and thought of as merely more powerful ‘versions’ of human beings. They were worshipped in order to achieve beneficiary results in the lives of the followers and the ‘pax deorum’ was maintained.
The ancient religions are now widely acclaimed as nothing more
than colourful fairy tales with no possibility of their being true. However
these beliefs have been replaced by Christians with an ardent devotion to their
‘God’
The point that I am attempting to make here is that there seems to
be no logical reason as to why the immensely surreal beliefs of Christianity
should be seen as a more likely alternative to Odin, Zeus or Sparticus the speckled
God of chickens. The followers of the ancient religions were every bit as adamant
about the truth of their beliefs as many Christians are today.
Devotion to religion is achieved by a very sly, underhand policy
of brainwashing. People are deviously manipulated into Christianity by the
promise of the tremendous character boost that in fictiously associated with
Christian belief. It also feeds upon the natural greed of humans by promising
eternal life in bliss if the devotion to the imaginary entity is maintained.
Many Christians are brainwashed from an early age (although this is a fact
widely dis-acknowledged by all Christians) to follow the same mis-guided trains
of thought that have corroded the minds of their parents/guardians.
For example, if a child believes in fairies, they are permitted
(and to some extent encouraged) to hold their childish fantasy for a number of
years until they either naturally grow out of it or some kind relative/friend
gently breaks the news. With Christianity the unfortunate child is manipulated
in such a way that natural cognitive dissonance is impeded. Once the child has
passed the stage from innocent belief in a fictitious, omnipotent, all knowing
Father to actually becoming a religious follower then in most cases the damage
is irreparable and a potentially intelligent youth has been turned into a
mindless drone incapable of free thought but self assured that their belief
agrees entirely with reality, no matter how absurd or childish that belief
actually is to someone capable of rational thought (e.g. an atheist).
Footnote- If any visitors to this
site believe that I am in any way insulting the intelligence of Right Hand Path
theists then you are absolutely correct. Before I am flooded with thousands of
emails listing all the great thinkers who have been Christian then let me
remind you that I am only critising their ability to make rational coherent
thought and not their prowess in a particular field (whether that be
mathematics, astrophysics etc). Thank you
